1. What Manaaki is

Manaaki is a finance planning and tracking tool for individuals, households, and sole traders. It helps you see your money across personal and business accounts, track spending, set goals, and have conversations with an AI assistant about your finances.

Manaaki is not a bank. We don't hold your money. We don't process payments. We don't open accounts on your behalf. Your money stays where it is — at your existing bank accounts.

Manaaki is not financial advice. The information, insights, and suggestions you see inside the app are general in nature. They don't take into account your personal objectives, financial situation, or needs. Consider seeking advice from a licensed financial adviser before making decisions that affect your finances.

2. Early access

Manaaki is currently in early access. Features may change, break, or disappear. Data formats may evolve. We're building in the open and appreciate your patience.

During early access, the product is free to use. When paid tiers arrive, we'll give you notice and the choice to continue or export your data.

3. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately.

You can invite a partner to share a household. Both of you will see joint accounts and shared goals. Personal accounts stay private — your partner can't see transaction details inside your personal pots.

4. Acceptable use

Use Manaaki for lawful purposes related to managing your personal, household, or business finances. Don't use the platform to:

• Violate any laws or regulations
• Infringe intellectual property rights
• Attempt to access other users' data
• Interfere with the platform's operation
• Upload malicious content or code

4a. Business features

Manaaki offers features for sole traders and small business owners, including:

• Xero integration: read-only sync from your Xero organisation. We do not write to Xero or modify your Xero data.
• BAS draft: a preview of GST figures for your records. We do not lodge BAS or interact with the ATO on your behalf. Confirm all figures with your registered BAS or tax agent before lodging.

5. Commentary (AI assistant)

Manaaki includes an AI-powered assistant that provides commentary about your finances. The assistant reads your transaction history, goals, and account balances to give contextual observations.

The AI observes and describes; it does not advise. It cannot tell you whether you can afford something or recommend specific products. It may make mistakes. Always verify important information independently.

6. Data and privacy

Your financial data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We process data in Australia where possible. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your information.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Manaaki and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

We don't guarantee uninterrupted access, accuracy of data aggregation, or suitability for any particular purpose. The platform is provided "as is".

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the email address associated with your account. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of New South Wales.
